And, We're Off!!

RV Adventure Begins as We Travel to MT!

10/5/2025

FULL-TIME RV LIFE...ready or not here we go!!

4-5 years in the making, thousands of YouTube videos, lists upon lists, numerous discussions, countless decisions, plenty of "lasts" and hard good-byes and see-ya-laters. The day finally came to hit the road!

September 19, 2025

Thank you Lloyd Hohn for taking this picture as we left town!

NIGHT ONE! Medora, ND

The plan was to get to Medora with enough time to get our bikes and ride around the South Loop in the Theodore National Park. Unfortunatley, we got a late start out of Bismarck (thanks alot RV service center) and we unable to make that happen. It would not have mattered as the loop was still blocked off for construction this year too. But the sights and sounds were still beautiful.

NIGHT TWO: Forsythe, MT

But we had to get there first. Pretty easy drive that day, until Scott looks down to see how much fuel we had (insert daunting music). Talk about a "newbie" move. We were something like 15 miles away from Forsythe with 15 miles of diesel to empty. I was trying to find an alternate route for the soonest fill-up...NONE. I quickly asked siri how much our truck had in fuel reserve and a quick calculation, we would make it by the skin on our teeth (if we didn't brush that morning). We watched the fuel gage drop to 10 miles, we watch the miles to Forsythe drop to 10, 9, 8,etc. They were neck and neck. I asked Scott if he could coast down the hills, of course he already was. Tension was building, I was thinking; I thought for a second, 'I could walk 5 miles on the interstate if I have to.' We rolled on...3 miles, 2 miles...THERE'S THE TOWN! We crept to the nearest fuel station and I kid you not after we filled the tank and did even more math, we literally had 1/2 a gallon left. Lesson learned my friends...lesson learned!!

Cute enough town to watch a Michigan football game at the Lariat bar.

Not our rig, but that's our site. Nothing to write home about. Maybe that's why I didn't take any pictures

NIGHT THREE: Three Forks, MT

We didn't get here without incident either. We got the tail end of stick, we were profiled by the Billings Highway Department. The officer said they received a report of a black/white RV being pulled by a grey truck swerving all of the road. WHAT? So, he took our license and registration while we sat there brainstorming. A while back we attempted to pass a FedEx truck only to get in the passing lane and see 3-5 cars in front of him. We backed off the gas and pulled back to the driving lane. That's all we could think of. The officer said that he had a call in from another officer that a drunk man turned himself in, we can move along. WHAT? I want to know more. Was it the drunk guy that called us in to take the sting off him? Was it someone that saw us with the FedEx truck? Obviously, questions that will remain unanswered.

Three Forks, MT is the home of Scott's baby sister, Suzie and her husband Tony. Both wonderful and blessed people. We had a lovely visit with them while sharing some homecooked chili! If a home/garden magazine is reading this, you need to pay them a visit next summer, their property is worth an article and pictures!

KOA Journey in Three Forks, MT

Mitzy & Shiloh are not sure about the traveling part, but love the "parked at home" part.

NIGHT FOUR - Ronan, MT

I don't even remember the name of this campground. A place to swing and sleep, that's about it. It was at the base of the Mission Mountains in MT!

But, what we couldn't find at the campground for dinner we found back along the highway. A rustic, lodge with a spectacular view and delicious mussels!

9/23 - 10/19 - Whitefish, MT

We had the pleasure of staying in the back yard of Scott's parents, Carol & Kay! NEVER dull moment! Gorgeous property! Want to watching lily pads grow/bloom? Want do practice your bow hunting? Jump on a trampoline? Play horseshoes? Feed deer? Watch a black bear mama and her cubs play? Checking out the huge Koi in the pond and listening to it trickle down the stream.

Literally, every time I looked out our window there were deer. Side note: the fawn was taken thru a screen which is why is it blurry.

This is harvest season for Carol & Kay. Bringing in 12-15 5 gallon buckets of grapes for juice. Barrals of apples for pies and sauces. Plums, plums and plums! Heaven knows what else is in their garden. Raspberries, onions, cabbage were plants I recognized. Needless to say they have a well stocked pantry.

The day they put out the apple peels/cores there were 12 deer enjoying their treat!

We have another week here, which we will use packing up, organizing and purchasing last minute things, but as I did with my family, spending as much time with Scott's.

A special THANK YOU to Carol for making dinner every night that I worked, what a blessing!

Next adventure, Yuma, AZ for the winter!!

But, not until we stop here and there, spend some days with Melissa, Emily & Carrie (Scott's daughters) in Salt Lake.

We saw 5 bears this trip, here are 3 of them!
